Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to serve as the single point of contact for all financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities within the company. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the company's financial strategy by delivering actionable insights, supporting decision-making, and ensuring the company's financial health. The FP&A Analyst will work cross-functionally to build budgets, forecasts, reports, and analysis that drive efficiency and profitability. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on financial professional to build and own the FP&A function in a growing organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process by collaborating with department leaders to establish targets.
- Develop and maintain rolling financial forecasts, incorporating business drivers and market trends.
- Build dynamic financial models to support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
Management Reporting & Insights
- Perform variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast) and communicate key drivers of performance.
- Create executive-level dashboards and visualizations to convey financial performance and trends.
F inancial Analysis & Decision Support
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support business decisions, such as pricing strategies and cost optimization initiatives.
- Act as a financial partner to cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Operations), providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Evaluate ROI on key initiatives, marketing campaigns, and capital expenditures.
Cash Flow Management & Treasury Support
- Monitor cash flow and working capital, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Support financing activities, including debt management, covenant compliance, and investor reporting.
Process Improvement & Systems Development
- Design and implement efficient FP&A processes, templates, and tools to streamline financial reporting and analysis.
- Drive adoption of financial systems (Excel models, ERP, or FP&A software) to enhance data accuracy and reporting speed.
- Establish documentation for key processes and best practices to support future FP&A team expansion.
Special Projects
- Support strategic initiatives such as M&A evaluations, fundraising efforts, and board-level reporting.
- Conduct financial due diligence and support decision-making on special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or a related field; prior experience in a startup or small company is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, data analysis, pivot tables, lookups, scenario planning).
- Proficiency in financial systems (ERP, FP&A tools like Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and key performance metrics.
Business & Communication Skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a solo FP&A role or building FP&A processes from the ground up.
- Exposure to SaaS, e-commerce, or manufacturing industries (adaptable based on your company's focus).
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) is a plus.
