Financial & Legal Project Management Analyst (Minneapolis, MN)
We are seeking aFinancial & Legal Project Management Analystto join our Finance department in our Minneapolis office. In this role, you will support the financial analyst and legal project management teams by reviewing pricing strategies, ensuring the accurate setup of financial data in systems, and conducting analysis to support various business initiatives. You will also generate and audit financial reports, monitor performance, and contribute to strategic projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, as well as assist senor team members with complex financial tasks.
In this role, you will:
- Support the Firm's pricing council; review and provide feedback on pricing proposals.
- Audit newly opened matters to ensure AFAs, rates, and other matter characteristics are established correctly in accounting information systems.
- Perform data analysis in support of Legal Project Management ("LPM") group initiatives, utilizing data querying software and Excel.
- Generate and audit various financial reports utilizing firm's project management software, including: matter planning reports, budget to actuals reports, task progress reports and ad hoc reports.
- Monitor financial progress of matters and perform matter management tasks as directed. Assist with ad-hoc requests for LPM services.
- Support and execute long-term strategic LPM projects, including the creation of technical documents and surveys, analysis of LPM performance and ongoing best practices development.
- Update, produce, and distribute monthly and other periodic financial reports on multiple reporting systems.
- Analyze financial performance of the firm, practice groups, offices, attorneys, clients and matters in order to generate recommendations for improvement.
- Contribute to Financial Analyst inbox requests, seeking support from more experienced analysts as needed.
- Support the Senior Analysts, Lead Analyst, Managers, Director, and CFO on projects as requested.
- Perform other duties and complete ad hoc analysis as assigned or requested.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other applicable area.
- At least 0-1 years of experience as a financial analyst or related function.
- Understanding of accounting and business principles.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills. Creative and innovative thinker.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Self-starter with the ability to organize and prioritize numerous financial tasks and procedures and complete them within time constraints with minimal supervision.
- Previous use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office suite products.
- Ability to work well under pressure both individually and in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Exposure to SQL, advanced Microsoft Excel functions, and/or previous use of accounting information systems.

The pay range for this position in Minnesota only is an annual salary of $68,765 to $88,990.
This range represents Dorsey's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and location and may fall outside of the range indicated.
