Position Summary

Shipping Clerk will process and handle air and ocean export shipments. They will also oversee the Customs and Border Protection ACE system and ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign government laws and regulations. This position is responsible for the completion of all Customs and Border Protection transactions in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all materials and shipments are properly packaged. Package all material as required by the customer specifications.
  • Generate proper documentation for all shipments and packages.
  • Pick, package and ship all parts orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory control procedures.
  • Maintain adequate supply of packaging materials.
  • Ensure availability of accurate information for packaging & shipping function.
  • Identify all problem shipments and report to the responsible party in a timely manner.
  • Report shipping discrepancies to appropriate RIX personnel.
  • Prioritize shipments in a manner that meets the needs of the company.
  • Issue parts for shipment as may be required by their documents.
  • Receive and track customer exports and license orders with the RIX Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Infor CloudSuite Industrial
  • Send shipping instructions overseas according to customer instructions or established SOPs. Notify customer of arrival and charges.
  • Review export shipping instructions and requirements with the RIX sales team/business unit.
  • Review and prepare export documentation with accuracy on every detail and aspect, not limited to but including Customs classification, commercial invoices, details, etc.
  • Check Customs and Border Patrol details and ensure any discrepancies are handled properly.
  • Ensure export transaction records contains all necessary documentation and in the proper sequence.
  • Assure that file contains all necessary documents as set by company standards and filed promptly in appropriate location.
  • Transmit payment of Customs duties as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate records to meet quality requirements of ISO 9001 Quality System.
  • Participate in all cross training programs as directed by Supervisor in the areas of shipping and inventory.
  • Support the management of incoming and outgoing supplies and products including a shared accountability for material and inventory documentation and correct inventory count maintenance.
  • Perform all other duties in the best interest of the company or as directed by Plant Manager and/or assigned Stockroom Supervisor.
  • All other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 year of prior experience working as an Export/Import shipper.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Capable of handling problem resolution in a calm and clear manner.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong detail accuracy
  • Ability to read and understand inventory, shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Ability to perform calculations such as percentages, ratios and fractions.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of software applications. Ability to understand the use and application of air and gas compressors and generators.
  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information both orally and in writing.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience with CBP's Automated Customs Environment (ACE) portal.
  • Working within an ERP (Infor, SAP).
  • Understanding of International Shipping Requirements.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position is regularly exposed to the following conditions:

  • Manufacturing, warehouse and office environments
  • While working near moving equipment, mechanical parts and lift trucks; must have the ability to follow safe operating procedures.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.

Must have the following physical abilities:

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
