At Johnston Ford LP, the Finance/Title Clerk plays a crucial role in supporting the sales department by securing financing options, preparing documentation, and ensuring all financial transactions are handled with accuracy, integrity, and compliance. This position does not involve direct vehicle sales but focuses solely on structuring deals, managing lender relationships, and protecting the dealership through proper paperwork and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Secure and finalize financing for customers by working with banks, credit unions, and other lending institutions.
  • Accurately prepare and process all financing and lease documentation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and dealership policies.
  • Review credit applications and structure deals to fit lender requirements and customer qualifications.
  • Present and explain finance and insurance (F&I) products such as extended service contracts, GAP coverage, and other optional protection plans (when applicable).
  • Ensure all contracts, titles, and loan documentation are completed, signed, and submitted promptly.
  • Maintain organized records of all financial agreements and customer paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with the sales team, lenders, and customers to resolve issues related to deal structure or funding.
  • Stay current with finance regulations, lending programs, and compliance requirements (e.g., Truth in Lending, Privacy Act, Fair Lending, etc.).
  • Ensure all deals are funded in a timely manner and follow up with lenders as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); college degree in business, finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of lending practices, F&I compliance, and state/federal regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficient in DMS systems (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background and credit check.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment within the dealership.
  • Occasional long hours or weekend shifts may be required, depending on business volume.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional dress and demeanor required at all times.
