Scope of Position
Responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of third-party report filings, including cost reports, appeals and payment calculations, for a large academic Medical Center with over 550 GME/IME FTE's, $23,000,000 of Medicare DSH reimbursement, and a TEFRA Cancer Exempt Hospital. Provides critical analytical and reimbursement support for the reimbursement function including Medicare, Medicaid, and other third party cost report activities such as audits, appeals, DSH, 340(b), and rate analysis. Develop expertise in reimbursement processes and financial reporting systems. Develops reimbursement related reports or analyses to serve reimbursement leadership. Understands the reporting requirements and tailors reporting parameters to accurately and efficiently compile data needed for cost report schedules. Performs monthly analysis of net revenue, contractual, and bad debt allowance accounts, including comparisons to the prior month and to budget. Responsible for preparing the annual forecast of the third-party reimbursement for the budget. Performs reconciliation and variance analysis of third-party liability accounts. Provides supporting work papers and documentation for third-party inquiries along with reimbursement and regulatory analysis on Health
System projects. Assists in evaluating the cost/quality and feasibility of new and existing programs.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director, Finance Healthcare Reimbursement, the Finance Reimbursement Consultant is responsible for the annual filing of third-party cost reports and providing financial analysis for special projects. The Reimbursement Consultant also is responsible for achieving accurate third-party reimbursement for the Hospital. The Reimbursement Consultant is required to use the extensive interpersonal skills in communicating with all management levels of the University.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with a major in Accounting or Finance and 4 years hospital reimbursement experience.
