About the Opportunity:

We're partnering with a leading engineering and scientific services firm to recruit a Financial Operations Manager. This is a high-impact role supporting technical consulting teams by managing financial planning, project costing, pricing strategies, and contract compliance across major service lines.


This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in engineering or scientific services, especially those who understand the unique operational and commercial dynamics of a project-based technical consulting business.


What You'll Do:

  • Act as the key financial partner to engineering service leaders and business development teams.
  • Review and negotiate client contracts (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs), ensuring profitability and compliance.
  • Build and maintain complex pricing models and rate structures aligned to gross margin goals.
  • Drive financial forecasting, budgeting, and compensation management across technical teams.
  • Lead monthly reporting and analysis on project revenue, margins, and accruals.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that drive operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Support RFPs, business reviews, and sales strategy development through robust financial insight.
  • Ensure cost capture and billing accuracy in partnership with procurement and delivery teams.
  • May oversee analysts or coordinators to support financial operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years' experience in financial operations or analysis within a services-based business (engineering/technical consulting preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, pricing strategy, and financial modeling.
  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience negotiating or supporting contracts and change orders.
  • Proficiency in Excel and the MS Office Suite; ERP/reporting system experience a plus.
  • A proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, client-focused environments.

Salary: Up to $115k + bonus & profit sharing.
