Job Title: Field Technician I

Employment Type: Temp to Hire

Pay Rate: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (10-hour shifts, 4/10 schedule)

Location: Brea, CA (Hybrid - local travel required)

Travel: 90% domestic travel, up to 2 weeks at a time

Position Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Field Technician I to support telecommunication field operations. This role involves extensive travel within the U.S., performing field surveys and documentation to support engineering and design teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment, has solid technical aptitude, and is capable of conducting detailed site inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site surveys to locate and document OSP (Outside Plant) facilities such as cables, poles, terminals, and equipment.
  • Measure and record attachment heights, structure dimensions, and distances between facilities.
  • Take accurate field notes, produce clear sketches, and prepare measurements for TCP design.
  • Identify grounding and bonding requirements.
  • Reference and document per California Public Utilities Commission standards (GO95, GO128).
  • Collaborate with municipalities, utility companies, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary maps, right-of-way, easement, and as-built documentation.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards encountered in the field.
  • Use GPS, Google Earth, and mobile tools to collect and input data.
  • Complete all assigned tasks within designated timelines and quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Telecom OSP Fielder or in a similar role preferred.
  • Basic understanding of aerial and underground utility systems.
  • Familiarity with OSP construction practices and conduit records.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Must be tech-savvy with strong Google Earth and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with good handwriting and math skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and traveling extensively.

Additional Details:

  • Drug screen and background check required
  • Use of personal vehicle required for local travel (Rental vehicle will be provided for extended travel, e.g., Hawaii)
  • No overtime is anticipated for this role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk more than 2 miles per day in various weather conditions.
  • Frequent entry/exit from vehicles.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional desk work using a computer.
  • Must be open to domestic travel for extended periods (up to 2 weeks).
