THE WORK - The field tech/engineer shall provide field engineering and technical support services as part of the Aegis waterfront support team assisting with Aegis Modernization efforts and other related technical support tasks as required. - The field tech/engineer will perform work on both USN and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) surface combatants and related land based systems.
• Technical services for the Shipboard (i.e. Aegis) Computer Networks and related systems to include but not limited to:
• Aegis Combat System Installation and Test efforts (i.e., ORDALTS, SHIPALTS and FMB's)
• Support ship sea trials and underway periods
• Support operations of the Aegis Ashore Team Training site at NSWC Dam Neck VA.
• Technical assistance to include troubleshooting, analysis, and equipment repair
• Leverage preventive and corrective maintenance as training opportunities to develop and enhance US Navy sailor technical proficiency
• Work as a team with system engineers, computer program developers, test engineers, technicians, government personnel and other customer representatives
• Provide verbal and written reports to leadership and other key functional and program organizations as required - The ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, and work rotating shifts including evenings and weekends on a temporary basis is required (potentially up to 25% based upon dynamic customer requirements). Will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
US Citizenship is required. You must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position.

Basic Qualifications:
- UNIX-based open architecture experience and its application to the U.S. NAVY Aegis Computing Infrastructure (ACI).
- Experience with testing of fiber optics cables
- Working knowledge of Ethernet LAN technology
- Thorough understanding of US Navy preventive and corrective maintenance and proficiency in reading technical documents.
- Familiarity with hardware, software, network test equipment used to evaluate and correct operational failures (i.e. fiber optic testers, multimeter's, o-scopes)
- Experience in AEGIS Combat Systems as an AEGIS Computer / Display / ACNT technician with a thorough understanding of Baseline 6.3, 7.1, 7.1R, ACB08, and/or BL9; and/or applicable training in other military services. - Position Requires frequent work in shipyard industrial environments as well as on naval vessels, both underway and in port. Physical ability to traverse steep ladders and stairs, as well as working in confined spaces, is a requirement.
US Citizenship is required. You must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position. Must be able to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of, or experience in, other functional equipment areas of the Aegis Weapon System to include UYQ-70 Display equipment, ORTS MK 9 Mod 1 or DTS-1, LAN architecture, routers, CEC, BFTT, COTS-based processing systems used onboard AEGIS Ships or other military UNIX/LINUX based equipment. - Ability to conduct fiber optic light loss measurements and troubleshoot fiber using approved Navy test equipment and procedures. Experience with building and testing fiber optics termini.
- Ability to understand LINUX/UNIX based program commands and local area network(LAN) theory

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
