Our client in Washington, DC is seeking a Field Support Technician to join their IT operations team, providing hands-on technical support across multiple locations including field offices and onboard train environments. This role focuses on imaging, configuring, and maintaining Windows-based systems and POS equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system deployments, troubleshooting, and supporting mobile and connected devices. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that requires technical proficiency, clear communication skills, and the ability to travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities: - Deploy and configure Windows OS, including system imaging, application installations, BIOS/driver updates, and patch management.
- Support installation and configuration of SQL Server on endpoints.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including tablets, peripherals, and POS systems.
- Set up and resolve connectivity issues for Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
- Maintain and update systems using Microsoft Intune and SCCM.
- Assist in writing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation and procedures.
- Execute and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts (experience preferred).
- Provide on-site technical support at crew bases and aboard trains as needed.
- Lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
