TITLE: Field Supervisor


LOCATION: Harris County, TX


SALARY: $27 - $34/hr


WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with a 30 min lunch or 7:00 am - 4:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch


Scope of Services:

Supervises plant operations, Plans, organizes, and directs operation and maintenance of the plant to meet TCEQ and EPA requirements. Provides training to current and incoming operators and maintenance personnel. Maintains records of all plant operations, and provides safety training. Oversees major repairs/equipment replacements, assigns work duties, procures supplies, and provides safety training. Reviews construction plans to ensure operational efficiency.


Essential Duties:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs operation and maintenance of the plant to meet State and EPA requirements. Maintains records of all plant operations. Orders parts and checks parts against received invoices.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs operation and maintenance of the City of Baytown Lift stations. Orders parts and checks parts against received invoices.
  • Coordinates all activities and maintains records of the State Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan Permit and the EPA's Risk Management Plan Permit.
  • Performs personnel-related duties including training and coaching. Conducts safety training on a monthly basis.
  • Communicates plant activities with supervisors and office personnel.
  • Interprets lab data and work reports to make decisions concerning plant operations.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), plus specialized technical courses.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver's license within 90 days).
  • Class "B" Wastewater Treatment Certification from TCEQ.
  • Three years experience in a paraprofessional related role.
  • Demonstrated prior supervisory experience.

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or institution in a related field.
  • Class "A" Wastewater Treatment Certification from TCEQ.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of the operation of wastewater facilities. Ability to interpret and give written and oral instructions, prepare reports, and read blueprints. Knowledge of mathematics, management techniques, lab procedures, and electricity. Knowledge of EPA and TCEQ permit regulations, chemistry and biology as related to wastewater, and activated sludge process and control. Knowledge of good management with practical experience. Must be computer literate in Word and Excel. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public.


Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform the services needed.


Overall Position Strength Demands:


Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects


MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:

  • Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
  • Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
  • Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
