Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair post-processing equipment for additive manufacturing at customer sites. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be willing to travel extensively to support our growing customer base.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Setup
- Install, configure, and calibrate post-processing equipment (e.g., de-powdering machines, surface finishing machines, part-dying equipment) at customer sites.
- Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with safety, power, and environmental requirements.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of AMT equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.
- Replace or repair faulty components, ball valves, pumps, sensors, or motors.
- Update firmware and software to the latest versions as required.
Customer Support and Training
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, addressing operational issues and answering technical queries.
- Train customers on the safe and effective use of additive manufacturing equipment, including software operation and material handling.
- Using Fresh-Desk for customer support
Performance Optimization
- Perform regular on-site preventative maintenance of AMT equipment at customer facilities to ensure top performance.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Reporting and Documentation
- Document service visits, including issues encountered, actions taken, and parts used.
- Provide detailed reports to both customers and internal teams, highlighting equipment performance and maintenance recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment history, warranties, and service schedules.
Safety and Compliance
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Advise customers on proper safety protocols and hazard mitigation.
Travel Requirements
- This role requires approximately 50% travel, mostly within the US and Canada, but possible international travel should be considered.
- 90% of travel required will be short jobs under 5-days.
- Travel will primarily involve visiting customer sites to install, maintain, and repair post-processing equipment for additive manufacturing.
- Trips will mostly be within the US with limited travel to Canada.
- The company covers all travel expenses, including flights, accommodation, meals, and transportation.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) or 2+ years experience in a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in field service, preferably with additive manufacturing, CNC, or industrial equipment.
- Experience with 3D printing technologies (e.g., FDM, SLA, SLS) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics and manuals.
- Familiarity with CAD software and 3D printing materials is a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and protocols.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
