Your role and responsibilities

This role involves visiting customers' sites to provide breakdown repairs, servicing, planned preventative maintenance, calibration contracts, and installation/commissioning of a wide variety of ABB (Measurement & Analytics) products. The role may require providing 24x7 service cover on a rota basis and factory-based workshop repairs. The successful candidate will travel throughout the UK and occasionally overseas, including overnight stays. We are looking for someone based in the East of England. The work model is onsite at various locations. This role contributes to the Measurement and Analytics Division, mainly serving Measurement Care Agreement holders and a large customer service base.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Working with customers on-site to identify opportunities for operational improvements and pain point elimination.
  2. Performing field service tasks, troubleshooting technical issues, and conducting analysis remotely or on-site.
  3. Preparing material lists and ensuring availability and quality of all materials, parts, and equipment needed for service activities.
  4. Troubleshooting equipment and process failures, requesting corrective actions, and recommending preventive measures.
  5. Developing and maintaining customer relationships and satisfaction with field-based service solutions.
  6. Supporting the development and delivery of ABB Ability Digital Service Solutions in collaboration with product managers.
  7. Collaborating with the aftersales support team to develop service solutions and training materials for partners and customers.
  8. Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and exceeding customer safety expectations.
Qualifications for the role
  • Preferably qualified to ONC/HNC level in instrumentation, measurement control, or equivalent, or have completed a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Good PC skills, familiar with MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible approach to work and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in industries such as Water/Power Utilities, Food & Beverage, Chemical & Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas is preferred.
  • Experience with Water Analysers is advantageous but not essential.
  • Valid UK driving license and passport are required.
