Field Sales Executive - Nottingham and Leicester

Hours of Work: 9 am to 5 pm

Field based with HQ visits and offsite meetings.

Salary: up to £25,000-£27,000 pa, plus an additional 10% performance-related bonus. Benefits include: laptop, phone, group benefits (DIS, Pension, Health Shield Cash Back Plan), 20 days holidays (plus 8 bank holidays), and a company van/car.

Instore, part of Smiths News, is recruiting a Field Sales Representative to drive new retail distribution points by selling our client's products within the Independent Retail Sector (Convenience, CTN, Grocery, etc.). If you have experience in field sales and can demonstrate your ability, you could be a potential candidate to join our field sales team with Instore on behalf of our global client.

Our client is an instantly recognizable household brand, supplying most supermarkets, high street, garden centres, and retailers, as well as a strong e-commerce platform.

Their product offerings and displays are a perfect fit for the independent market, offering high-quality products at various price points to reflect consumer needs. They provide various display options, seasonal ranges, attractive margins, and ongoing support for retailers through their engaging marketing strategy. Our client has partnered with Instore to provide its field sales function.

This role involves full territory management across a designated area, visiting retailers to promote this new service offer. You will act as the key liaison between the brand and the Instore/Smiths News teams, ensuring effective communication.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Drive sales and distribution targets to meet KPIs across various accounts, engaging business owners to complete sales.
  2. Develop strong customer relationships within your sales territory and identify opportunities for increased distribution.
  3. Adopt an entrepreneurial approach.
  4. Identify key accounts with bulk distribution opportunities (Mini Multiples/Others).
  5. Maximize brand presence within your trade area.
  6. Complete all relevant calls within your territory as per the plan daily.
  7. Develop a high-performing field mentality to meet all KPIs.
  8. Use effective communication to share best practices with colleagues, keep the Line Manager informed, and foster excellent engagement with customers.
  9. Proactively escalate issues and seek resolutions.
  10. Maintain expert knowledge of the client's business and products to aid successful selling.
  11. Execute all tasks to a high standard.
  12. Provide quality, concise feedback to the line manager to support the client's growth strategies.
  13. Complete administration tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and maintain high work standards.
  14. Understand the retail landscape to leverage opportunities and counter competitors.
  15. Utilize tools to ensure customers can order products seamlessly via the Smiths News delivery network.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in sales or retail, ideally within FMCG or consumer goods.
  • Brand ambassador experience is a plus.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and sales techniques.
  • Experience in remote field activity and achieving sales targets/KPIs.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • A proven track record of sales success.
  • Ability to influence and implement change.
  • Capable of documenting ideas and actions to enhance performance.
