JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Under general supervision of a senior-level engineer, a Field Engineer II performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks involved in the installation, operations, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems.
Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
- Keep informed of and study currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty
- Strong understanding of computer system administration, telecommunication and networking system transporting data, voice, and video across WAN/LAN infrastructure and equipment.
- Ability to use a vast array of tools and field deployable test equipment to include built-in test equipment. Must be able to use this equipment to quickly repair both physical and logical network outages and anomalies.
- Ability to design and implement solutions in accordance with IEEE standards utilizing layer 2/3.
- Must possess a strong understanding of TCP/IP networking principles.
- Must be able to perform a variety of field engineering tasks under general supervision.
- Must demonstrate the ability to use a structure approach to solving complex networking/computer problems.
- Desire experience working with various encryption solutions, routers, switches, and other associated computer hardware.
- Oversee and monitor system compliance, improvements, and QA standards.
- Interact and coordinate with customers to identify, establish, implement, and verify requirements.
- Studied currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the engineering specialty.
- Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
- Makes recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedules, plans and performs system upgrades including the transition from design, test, production and documentation environments.
- Provides operational status as required.
- Uses established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution.
- Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
- Perform other job-related duties, as required.
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 7 years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field are required for this position.
In addition, a Field Engineer II must possess the following qualifications:
- Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and familiarity with related engineering fields
- Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Planning/organizational skills.

SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $87,360.00 to $93,600.00 annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.
Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
