Job Summary

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) position supports pre and post-sales activities with the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), encompassing technical support for qualified opportunities, product/solutions training, and seminars for distributors, sales reps, and customers. Strong presentation skills, solid wireless technical knowledge, initiative, and a business sense of urgency are critical to speeding up the sales cycle. Our FAE engagement model spans the complete customer lifecycle, from onboarding through maturation to offboarding.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre and post-sales support to technical inquiries through Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) for wireless IoT products, including cellular, LoRa, GNSS and short-range radio
  • Make sales calls with RSMs in the Western and Central US market
  • Recommend products, services, and general application guidelines based on customer requirements
  • Set strategies to combine technology that will result in helping RSMs to close sales
  • Responsible for customer, distributor, and partner training and product demos
  • Assist in qualifying customer reference designs on hardware and application scripting
  • Provide technical responses to RFIs and RFPs using Semtech products and services
  • Develop training materials and application notes for IoT products
  • Conduct application demonstrations for seminars, trade shows, and key customers
  • Provide constant feedback to product management for new product development
  • Communicate module field failures to design and development and assist with problem resolution
  • Set expectations on the product roadmap, carrier, and type approval certifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in wireless telecommunications
  • Strong technical knowledge of cellular systems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Highly self-motivated and autonomous
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience in the IoT marketplace
  • Professional background Cellular/LoRa protocols
  • Hardware design skills
  • Embedded application/software design experience
  • Microprocessor integration
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (IP, TCP, Ethernet, IP Addressing, Subnetting, DNS, security)
  • Project Management skills to be able to prioritize time and resources to meet customer timelines and complete equipment certifications

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $91,000-$169,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee's total compensation package.
