An expanding Fiber Internet company is looking for a FTTH Field Technician to service the Fort Lupton, CO area as they expand their fiber internet offerings to this area. The Fiber Field Technician will be responsible for supporting network outages and responding to trouble calls. They will be primarily troubleshooting physical layer 1 issues from the terminal to the house or configuration issues for the customers in the home. This role may include responsibilities like reading network designs, fiber splicing, measuring fiber breaks, and troubleshooting fiber issues onsite or remotely.
This is a permanent opportunity with our client paying $65-75k salary. Work will be completed within normal business hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm unless the technician is needed for network outages. The technician will be provided a vehicle and tools, and will be reimbursed mileage.
Pay Rate Range: $65,000 - $75,000
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
Skills/EXP:
- Experience / knowledge / background in use of OTDR - critical skill
- Understanding of all facets of OSP, including construction methods, materials used, and how to diagnose network outages
- Understanding of networking and equipment as well as network architecture and topologies
- Must be able to understand, read, and interpret construction documents - (network diagrams / as-builts)
- Familiarity with MS Suite, QGIS, and Google Earth
- Able to maintain a customer and network health focus
- Support site surveys and attend field meetings required to ensure projects meet the delivery/ commitment dates identified
- Meet response and repair intervals
PLUSSES:
- Possess a valid / unrestricted driver's license and able to pass driving record background check
- Some local travel will be required
- Can manage difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needs with a focus on solving conflict, not blaming
- Understands and prioritizes safety by observing safety and security procedures, determining appropriate action beyond guidelines, and reporting potentially unsafe conditions
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
