POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in Geriatrics.
Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service.
The position includes 60% time delivering direct care to geriatric patients in the UC Davis Health Network, which will include rotating medical students and residents (there are clinical opportunities on the inpatient side though a new Geriatric Consultation Service and on the outpatient side in the Healthy Aging Clinic) and 20% time supervising internal medicine residents in their Geriatrics clinical work. Non-clinical administrative time includes weekly meetings with the ambulatory multidisciplinary team, case conference, quarterly division meetings, business meetings, grand rounds and other non-patient care responsibilities.
This position also includes 20% protected time as the Geriatrics Fellowship Program Director. The Geriatrics Fellowship Program Director will lead and oversee all aspects of the geriatrics fellowship program, including curriculum development, clinical training, and mentorship. This role involves coordinating with faculty both internal and external to UC Davis, ensuring the fellows' academic and professional development, and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards. The Program Director will also be responsible for recruitment, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative, patient- centered learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatrics, leadership experience, and a passion for educating the next generation of specialists in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O. or equivalent degree
- Board certification in Internal Medicine Geriatric Medicine
- Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of California
- ACGME accredited fellowship or equivalent experience
- The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and interest in Geriatric Medicine
- Must have strong interest and excellence in graduate and undergraduate medical education in addition to medical students, residents, and other learners
- Experience working cooperatively and collegially within a diverse team environment.
