Mercy Care requires a physician for locum tenens coverage, focusing on both children and adult patients. Some experience with HIV treatment is beneficial. The physician will be trained for Integrated Behavioral Health, though this won't be a primary duty but may be needed to cover these areas of the clinic.
Details:
- Day shift
- Public service in a clinic environment, serving homeless and underserved populations on an outpatient basis
- 10-12 patients per day, primarily adults
- EMR used: Epic
- Six mid-level providers available for coverage
- No supervision of other healthcare providers required
- No in-house code responses or ED backup provided
- Defibrillator available
- Must be comfortable conducting pelvic exams, pap smears, and employment physicals
Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Medical Director, the Staff Physician is responsible for direct patient care and offering direction, supervision, and consultation to clinic staff. Responsibilities include quality assurance, medical chart and lab reviews, adherence to clinical protocols, and compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, PCER, and OSHA regulations. In the absence of the Medical Director, responsibilities extend to overseeing the Physician Dispensary and management of medical materials and technology.
Job Knowledge:
- Required clinical expertise and competence in providing direct services and medical consultation
- Understanding of the role and scope of mid-level providers, especially nurse practitioners
- Familiar with effective clinical operations and staff supervisory skills
- Preferably knowledgeable about health issues specific to immigrants, the medically underserved, and homeless populations
- Working knowledge of administration principles and practices, including planning and organization
Requirements:
- Active Georgia license and DEA
- Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Graduation from a state-approved school, preferably with a specialty in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
- At least 5 years of experience post-training
- BLS certification
- Local candidates preferred, bilingual in Spanish highly preferred
- Experience with medically underserved and immigrant populations, including diverse patient backgrounds, highly favored
- Experience in supervising professional staff and/or administrative experience is highly preferred
