Family and Community Engagement Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BA or BS Degree(s) required

REPORTS TO:

Principal (Site Administrator)

JOB GOAL:

To remove or reduce the barriers to learning by providing additional support of home-school relations and communications and to provide additional educational support to students identified as high need/high risk.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Makes home visits and conducts or assists in school conferences with families whose children need additional educational/social service support.

2. Gather information from home visits that will be useful in determining how best to meet the needs of students and parents relative to improving attendance and making the school experience more meaningful.

3. Serves on the school-wide support team upon request by the site administrator.

4. Collaborates with the counselor, nurse, and other school support personnel to meet the needs of children

5. Collaborates with community organizations to secure resources for children.

6. Conducts in-take on special education referrals upon request by the site administrator.

7. Works closely with the health, welfare, school support staff, and law enforcement agencies to coordinate all services.

8. Arrange parent conferences upon request by the site administrator.

9. Assists in organizing school events.

10. Presents a positive image of the school to parents and conveys to them the school's genuine concern with the education, growth, and development of each child by coordinating special events, workshops, producing a monthly newsletter, and other projects as requested by the site administrator.

11. Keeps complete, up-to-date, and accurate records as required by law, policy, and administrative regulation.

12. Perform any other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of the job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to talk or to hear. The employee must squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp items during the day.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Occasionally, the employee will lift and/or move up to ninety pounds. Additionally, the employee, while performing the duties of this job, will regularly work indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee may also work at times with caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays, and non-household item dust. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate, but on rare occasions, the employee will work in a loud area.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
