Position Summary
The Program Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) G9 Family Advocacy Program (FAP) through a wide range of activities aimed at preventing and responding to domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, and problematic sexual behavior in children and youth (PSB-CY). The role supports mission readiness and strengthens military family functioning by delivering education, case coordination, data tracking, outreach, and administrative services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct family needs assessments, biopsychosocial intake interviews, and maintain accurate documentation in the Army Family Web Portal (AFWP).
- Deliver parent education sessions, group activities, and community-based outreach to support the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) and Domestic Abuse Victim Advocacy Program (DAVAP).
- Assist with referral coordination to internal and external resources, including child care, financial aid, counseling, and legal services.
- Provide crisis response, including 24/7 advocacy support as needed, safety planning, and emergency intervention.
- Maintain compliance with all training and certification requirements mandated by DoD, Army Regulations, and contract-specific standards.
- Attend clinical and multidisciplinary meetings (e.g., IDC-CCSM, FAC, MDT) and contribute to case review and service planning processes.
- Support the planning and execution of FAP awareness campaigns and training events at the installation level.
- Adhere to HIPAA, Privacy Act, and other confidentiality protocols in handling sensitive information.
- Complete regular reporting and quality assurance documentation, including client surveys and annual impact summaries.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Human Services, or related field.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in family advocacy, social services, case management, or behavioral health.
- Working knowledge of military family dynamics, Army regulations, and the DoD Family Advocacy Program is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to navigate web-based reporting systems (AFWP).
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing program tasks, including lifting, travel, and event support.
- Pass a background check including a National Sex Offender Registry check and state child abuse registry verification.
