General Responsibilities:

Based at our Piqua, OH facility, Goodbaby is seeking an energetic, dedicated, versatile, self-motivated Safety and Health professional with ability to assist in leading implementation of safety and health programs in an operating environment. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager and work in conjunction with the Production Manager. The Facility Safety Coordinator (FSC) oversees regulatory compliance, accident investigation/ documentation, and OSHA compliance. This position will assist with all aspects of safety training including initial new hire and plant safety training, as well as maintaining all training records.


The FSC will continuously monitor the performance and effectiveness of the plant's health and safety program in the field and make program adjustments as necessary to meet performance and improvement objectives in a safe, productive manner.


Additionally, the FSC will assist in facility outage scheduling, planning / scheduling projects, budget planning for both safety within the plant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain written health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientations and ongoing refresher courses.
  • Establish and maintain an effective incident investigation and reporting system.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control:

  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to identify and evaluate workplace hazards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety controls and make necessary adjustments.
  • Oversee the safe operation of machinery and equipment, including lockout/tagout procedures in our Injection Mold areas.
  • Evaluate ergonomics of workstations and implement ergonomic improvements.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and other relevant data.
  • Prepare and submit required safety reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Stay up to date on changes in safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste disposal and pollution prevention.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.

Safety Culture and Communication:

  • Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication, training, and employee engagement.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate and analyze accident/incident reports and near miss reports.
  • Communicate safety information and updates to all employees.
  • Work collaboratively with management and employees to address safety concerns.
  • Lead the safety committee.

Emergency Response:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for emergency situations.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities, including evacuations, first aid, and fire suppression.
  • Maintain and inspect emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.
  • Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies and participates in or supports the E&P program.
  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks. Consistently practices, and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5-7 years' experience.
  • Knowledge of general safety policies and procedures in addition to plant processes.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to spend the majority of work schedule in the production area.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
