Responsible for the maintenance of all building facilities, all equipment, all guest rooms, corridors, public spaces and back-of-house areas throughout the building.
The Chief Engineer role will take a hands on approach and be expected to assist the department with
ie: housecalls, PM projects, and other engineering related needs to successfully manage the department.
- Responsible for the Fire & Life Safety Program for the building
- Responsible for the Security Program for the building
- Establish Energy Conservation Program
- Responsible for the preventive maintenance program for all principal machinery servicing the building - negotiate service agreements for heavy equipment (chillers, elevators, pumps etc.) as required
- Responsible for the preventive maintenance program for guest rooms and public areas.
- Interacts directly with guests on maintenance issues when required
- Attend Department Head Meetings conducted by the Hotel Manager
- Responsible for the training of all staff in Fire and Life Safety procedures
- Ensures all local regulations are adhered to as far as Fire & Life Safety issues are concerned; i.e., certifications, inspections, etc.
- Responsible for all outside vendors representatives and mechanics while attending the building's equipment or services
- Establish budget for Maintenance Department and monitors performance against budget
- Recruits qualified staff for the Maintenance Department - maintains agreed manning levels in conjunction with the Hotel Manager
- For all maintenance staff - set work schedules, assign tasks, provide appropriate training, monitor performances, discipline, provide payroll information, etc.
- Source appropriate vendors, negotiate best rates, place Purchase Orders and authorize payment for all maintenance purchases
- Monitor local utility-market and make recommendations for contracts, suppliers, etc.
- Monitor monthly utility invoices, analyze charges and consumption to ensure equipment and building machinery operating at maximum efficiency
- Train all staff on Energy Conservation program, monitor performance and make recommendations on systems and procedures to reduce energy costs.
- Review Tenants (restaurants, retail outlets etc.) maintenance program as well as Fire & Life Safety Program - conduct regular monthly inspections of Tenant areas and follow-up to ensure they are compliant with Club Quarter's maintenance standards
- Maintain contact with building engineers of buildings in the immediate vicinity of the hotel
Skills: Life Fire Safety Director, HVAC licenses, excel, word and Alice dispatching system preferred.
