Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience: - Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Advanced knowledge of current management and leadership principles and practices in a similar facility environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the management of a sports arena and entertainment venue / convention facility, including five (5) years of previous successful experience in a similar facility.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or related field.
- Supervisory experience.
- Event logistics coordination experience.
- Knowledge of food and alcohol related procedures and liabilities.
OR - Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job proficiently may be substituted for the above requirements.
Nature of Work:Oversees and supervises event set up and tear down, facility maintenance and cleaning, and audio/visual services at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center and Vetter Stone Amphitheatre. Develops/trains employees and the crews engaged in operating and maintaining the facility and its equipment. Oversees emergency preparedness plans, safety and loss control, and acts as liaison to contracted security company.

Duties / Responsibilities Primary Essential Work Functions: - Oversees the set-up and tear down, audio/visual operations, and security for all Mayo Clinic Event Center events and off-site events including but not limited to; RibFest, and Vetter Stone Amphitheatre Events.
- Oversees facility operations during meetings, conferences, weddings, tradeshows, and entertainment events. Addresses client concerns and resolves issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinates with event sales staff on event planning logistics and execution. Attends pre-event meetings to identify client's operational requirements and expectations.
- Oversees hiring, training, and management of all operations staff (i.e., set up/tear down, housekeeping, audio/visual services, contracted labor, and volunteers working inside the Civic Center).
- Provides support and collaborates with City of Mankato facilities staff on building maintenance, and ice sheet management, including direct supervision of arena turnovers.
- Collaborates with event sales staff and tour management to determine security needs and acts as liaison to third party security company to meet staffing needs and provide direction on-site.
- Responsible for budget management of facility operations including Janitorial, Audio/Visual and Security areas.
- Creates and implements preventative maintenance schedules on all tools and equipment. Maintains and updates equipment specifications and manuals, along with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), to be referenced as needed for equipment repairs and prevention of injury.
- Implements continuous training programs, including facility safety, and maintains good relations with all employees (full-time, part-time and contracted) who are employed to service events.
- Communicates through ongoing verbal and written reports (formal and informal) with staff, colleagues and Civic Center Co-Directors.
- Represents the facility to the community, entertainment/convention industries, downtown properties, and other agencies as directed by the Co-Directors.
- Responsible for maintaining productive working relationships with local agencies.
Other Work Functions: - Works in cooperation with Public Safety and other public agencies as necessary to effectively communicate Civic Center event activity that may impact the community.
- Performs physical and mental demands and work environment requirements for this position.
- Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and community customers.

Supervision: - 3 full-time direct reports, and 10 FTE (part-time labor); volunteers; and sub-contracted labor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: - Demonstrated knowledge and experience in facility management.
- Proficient in problem-solving ranging from routine to complex.
- General knowledge or experience in event-based software.
- Basic understanding of audio and visual systems.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work for optimum efficiency.
- Proficiency in computer software programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to effectively supervise staff under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of food and alcohol related procedures and liabilities.
- Ability to speak and write effectively to respond to event inquiries, client needs, and complaints.
- Knowledge of safety and occupational health standards applicable to event center operations and maintenance.
- Knowledgeable in proper lifting techniques used in strenuous lifting of heavy objects.
- Knowledge of security practices and protocols.
- Ability to maintain records and reports.
- Ability to work from verbal and written directions.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and members of the community.
Qualifications / Conditions of Employment Conditions of Employment: - Must be available to work normal office hours, plus various night, overnight, holiday, and weekend hours.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment assessment, background examination, physical, and drug test.
- Must possess a current cell phone or home phone number that can be accessed by building management personnel for contact purposes.

- Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to not public data. Hours of Work This position will work abbreviated normal office hours, plus night, holiday, and weekend hours. This position is responsible for event preparation, checking on and/or working with night changeovers, event presentation, and move out periods. Continuous hours of work may be varied and long as events and productions determine working hours.
