Ahimsa Companies is hiring a Full time Facilities Engineering & Maintenance Manager for Plant Plant Company located in Heath, OH. Ahimsa Companies is a holding company executing an M&A rollup strategy in the plant-based food space with a mission to create a more sustainable food system and reduce the use of animals in the food chain.

The Facilities Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the facility's engineering and maintenance operations. This role ensures the efficient and safe operation of all building systems, equipment, and infrastructure, supporting the company's production goals and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, a proven track record of leadership, and a deep understanding of maintenance best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities maintenance strategy to optimize equipment uptime, reduce costs, and ensure compliance.
- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and engineers, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and manage the facilities budget, including capital expenditure planning.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve maintenance performance.
- Maintenance Operations:
- Oversee the preventive maintenance (PM) program, ensuring all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
- Manage reactive maintenance activities, prioritizing and resolving equipment breakdowns and facility issues in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory, and maintenance history.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and other applicable standards.
- Manage and coordinate third-party contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance services.
- Engineering and Projects:
- Lead and manage facility improvement projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and renovations.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Evaluate and select new equipment and technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
- Food Safety:
- Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with food safety standards, including GMPs, HACCP, and SQF.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain a safe and sanitary production environment.
- Manage and control the maintenance of all support systems such as HVAC, compressed air, and water treatment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in facilities engineering and maintenance management, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a maintenance team.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, including preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Proficiency in using CMMS software.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and GMPs.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with automation and control systems.
