We are seeking a Facilities Coordinator to be a part of the 555 Penn Facilities Management Team. The Facilities Coordinator provides key support for 555 Pennsylvania Avenue events and facilities services, including set-ups and tear downs. Additionally, this person will assist with furniture movement, supply stocking, and general facility maintenance.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Key Accountabilities Event Setup 40%

  • Event set up.
  • Lock and unlock rooms.
  • Set up includes setting up tables, putting out linens, putting out chairs, moving walls, etc.
  • Communicate any event-related cleaning needs to janitorial staff.
  • General basic maintenance of facilities, including, but not limited to, simple repairs and equipment assembly.
  • Tear down will include ensuring that furniture and other supplies are put away.
  • Changes can be made to daily work schedules (arrival and departure) to accommodate events.

Office Move Support 25%

  • Supporting office moves.
  • Moving boxes, chairs, desks, filing cabinets, etc., between offices.
  • Coordinating office/workstation nameplates including printing, posting, and updating as needed.

Facility Maintenance, Inventory, & Stocking 25%

  • Complete building checks including general maintenance and classroom checks and follow up on any potential issues.
  • Complete locker checks.
  • Inventory and stock supply rooms and classrooms.
  • Ensure copiers are stocked with paper.
  • Maintain and stock pantries.
  • Work with janitorial staff to identify and resolve any cleaning concerns.

Other Duties 10%

  • Assist with mail/package distribution as needed.
  • Assist with loading dock operations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Computer & Other Special Needs for Position

  • Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Microsoft Teams.
  • 25Live.
  • Facilities ticketing systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s).
  • Communication skills using the spoken word.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters.
  • Ability to hear within normal range.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and carry items up to 30 lbs (with assistance as needed); lifting and carrying event supplies such as chairs, tables, podiums etc,


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior events coordination preferred.
  • Good understanding of building systems.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Ability to work constructively and cooperatively as part of a team and react at the last minute.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Familiarity with mobile device usage for communications and task assignment.

Starting Salary Range: Min $18.00 - Max $33.50 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
