Job Position: Fabrication Lab Assistant
Location: Flint, MI 48503
Pay Rate: $20.00/hr
Shift: 30 hours/week, Monday Friday (hours scheduled between 8:00 AM 5:00 PM), contract/temporary
Position Summary Entech Staffing is seeking a hands-on, creative FABLAB Technician Assistant to support the operations, design, and client services of our fabrication lab. This role offers the opportunity to work with innovative tools and technologies such as 3D printers, Laser cutters, and CAD software, while supporting community members, students, and businesses in bringing their product ideas to life.
Key Responsibilities Design & Prototyping
Assist clients in designing and developing prototypes using CAD and other design tools
Operate and maintain lab equipment, including 3D printers and Laser cutters
Provide training and technical support on design software and fabrication processes
Client Support
Work directly with clients to understand their project needs
Guide users through design, material selection, and prototyping
Manage timelines to ensure on-time delivery of client projects
Business Operations
Help manage daily lab operations: usage tracking, inventory, and service billing
Support marketing and outreach to grow lab engagement
Prepare activity and revenue reports as needed
Maintenance & Safety
Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment
Ensure all safety protocols are followed by staff and clients
Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs
Collaboration & Training
Collaborate with the FABLAB Director to develop new programs and services
Lead or support training workshops on tools and technologies
Assist with aligning FABLAB services with school strategic goals
Maintain compliance with grant requirements by completing activity logs
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Associates degree in engineering, design, or a related technical field (relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree)
Experience with CAD software, 3D printing, and Laser cutting
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Willingness to learn new tools and technologies
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a related field
Experience working in a makerspace or fabrication lab
Familiarity with client service and billing processes
Experience delivering technical training or workshops
