Physical Requirements

Standing for prolonged periods of time while assisting FabLab customers. Some lifting up to 20 pounds.

Shift

Working hours flexible but occur during open lab hours M-F 9-6, Weekend hours are TBD depending on demands of the Fab Lab service needs.

Job Summary

Student workers in the College of Design Fabrication Lab are the first contact point for all
students who seek the lab's services and its tools and equipment, including digital tools. As a
student worker you will help guide your student peers with the physical and digital proces ses
central to the College of Design curricula. From planning to execution, you will work as a part of
a team to provide hands-on support while promoting an environment of inclusive and
collaborative learning. Student workers also provide operational and maintenance support by
performing routine quality and safety checks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the
Fabrication Lab.

What a typical day includes:

• Assisting students in installing/updating software, drivers, etc.

• General Windows software experience
o Troubleshooting software errors
o General use questions

• Interfacing with FDM & SLA 3D Printers
o Cleaning/Maintenance
o Preparing Files
o Changing Filament/Materials

• Assisting with Laser Printer & Large Format Plotter use
o Clearing paper jams
o Troubleshooting document errors
o Assisting with printing software questions

You should apply if:

• You have a working knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem including OneDrive

• You are comfortable helping others solve problems with a kind a patient attitude

• You are willing to assist with troubleshooting problems you may not be familiar with
