Position Summary
Administers patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses; evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
- Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
- Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage care.
- Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
- Apply principles of growth and development to assess patient data and meet age-specific needs.
- Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
- Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team members' capabilities.
- Communicate patient condition and unit concerns effectively.
- Provide compassionate, therapeutic care fostering a caring environment.
- Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
- Support new staff and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
- Maintain punctual attendance following policies and regulations.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
- Contribute to professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in committees, peer reviews, mentoring, and coaching.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Attend ongoing training and meetings; partner with leadership for professional growth.

Qualifications
Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school; meet competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific unit.
Licensure/Certification: Valid Alabama RN license or multistate RN license; current BLS certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas, with NRP necessary for NICU.
