Description The Maritime Solution Systems Portfolio within the Maritime Systems Division (MSD) is searching for a skilled and enthusiastic Linux System Administrator to join the Leidos team. This role is crucial for supporting complex maritime applications, including underwater vehicle systems and maritime sensors, as well as providing vital information technology and engineering services.
Key Responsibilities: - Install, configure, and maintain various Linux-based servers and systems (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
- Manage system performance with effective monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure the security of systems by configuring firewalls, SSL, VPNs, and applying necessary patches and updates.
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams to configure environments and address system-related issues.
- Monitor and quickly resolve hardware, software, and networking challenges.
- Conduct routine system upgrades, patching, and security compliance checks.
- Administer and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM).
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for escalated issues.
- Respond swiftly to critical outages or incidents.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for team reference.
Required Qualifications: - Strong skills to meet the primary responsibilities outlined above.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN, etc.).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.).
- Expertise in shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
- Understanding of system security best practices and tools.
- A BS degree with 8-12 years of experience, or a Master's with 6-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to independently complete technical projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills along with strong communication abilities.
- Must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance; must currently hold Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of the Navy RMF process, including security categorization, risk assessments, continuous monitoring, and ATO.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-2).
- CompTIA Linux+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications.

Pay Range: $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
