Prominent South Florida Family and Business Law Firm seeks a Paralegal with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience. Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-sufficient and independent but also a team player. Hybrid remote position, in-person office work will be required for hearing and trial preparations. Duties include communication with clients, discovery compliances, deposition/hearing/trial preparation, drafting of motions and responses, calendaring, e-filing, and scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal and administrative support to lawyers and enhance office efficiency.
- Assist with communication with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and judicial assistants, etc.
- Keep clients and attorneys moving forward with discovery deadlines.
- Identify, organize, and label discovery documents for production. Prepare discovery responses, including financial affidavits.
- Review and chart out missing documents, draft motions to compel and discovery subpoenas.
- Review divisional instructions and prepare scheduled matters for hearing within the timeline/instructions of the assigned judge.
- Trial preparation.
- Monitor and manage calendar events and deadlines for multiple attorneys.
- Save emails, client/court documents to client file.
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- In office attendance for case preparations, office meetings and other projects.
Skills
- 3-5 years experience as a paralegal.
- Familiarity with family law, legal procedures, protocols, deadlines and court requirements.
- Detailed oriented, organized with the ability to focus and multi-task.
- Proficiency in English.
- Working knowledge of case management and billing software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to different personalities and work styles.
Work Remotely
- Mostly remote work from home, however, will be required to be in office for case preparations, office meetings and other projects.
