CICC's Mission: To enhance the quality of life for the Central Islip community through sustainable housing, economic development, community programming, and preservation. Description of Duties: The Executive Director is responsible for leading the CICC in fulfilling its mission, overseeing its programs, operations, and staff, and expanding the organization's impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director must balance strategic vision with day-to-day management and play a pivotal role in fundraising, grant writing, establishing community relationships, and representing the Civic Council. The ideal candidate will have deep roots in the community, a passion for serving others, and experience in growing a nonprofit organization through innovative leadership and sustainable practices. Objectives of this Role:
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to assess and address organizational needs and growth strategies.
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring program efficiency, compliance, and quality.
• Develop staffing plans that attract and retain talent, ensuring mission-driven operations.
• Represent CICC as the spokesperson, raising awareness and cultivating relationships with local media and community leaders.
• Spearhead major community events and fundraising initiatives to engage residents, increase visibility, and secure additional resources to support CICC's programs.
• Create and implement fundraising strategies, managing grants, donations, and community events.
• Ensure compliance with national, state, and local regulations affecting the nonprofit. Core Responsibilities: Strategic Planning & Business Development :
• Develop and implement business plans to achieve organizational goals.
• Maintain compliance with all legal and funding requirements.
• Grow CICC programs, focusing on housing, economic development, and community outreach. Fundraising & Financial Management :
• Meet annual fundraising goals through grants, individual donations, and corporate partnerships.
• Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
• Spearhead community and fundraising events to increase engagement and drive financial support. Program Oversight & Community Impact :
• Lead and monitor housing programs (foreclosure prevention, affordable housing development, rental properties).
• Ensure community engagement through youth programs, food pantry services, and conservation initiatives.
• Work with local government agencies to advocate for community needs in new developments. Team Leadership & Staff Management :
• Build and manage an effective team, fostering a positive work culture.
• Hire, train, and annually evaluate staff performance to ensure program success.
• Serve as a mentor to staff and volunteers, inspiring dedication to the mission. Community Representation :
• Act as the face of the CI Civic Council, building partnerships with local leaders, government agencies, and other nonprofits.
• Lead CICC's marketing, public relations, and outreach efforts. Required Skills and Qualifications :
• Seven or more years of experience in senior nonprofit management.
• Proven experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising.
• Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills.
• Demonstrated success in working with a Board of Directors.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of community development, housing, and economic initiatives. Preferred Skills and Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related field. Experience managing budgets and financial operations. Strong understanding of CRA, housing, and economic development programs Experience writing and submitting grant applications.
