Estimator for Electrical Manufacturing Company

Location: 249/1960 Area

Pay Range: $72,000-$85,000

Must have experience or background working for an Electrical Utility Company to be considered for this role.

Job Summary: The Estimator is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Their duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compiling reports and making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects.

Job Duties:
  • Analyzing plans bills of quantities and other project documentation in order to estimate costs
  • Researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assessing the financial, technical, and operational risks of the project
  • Work closely w/ customer and/or Project/Account Manager on defining the scope of supply.
  • Inputting into decisions over whether to bid for the project
  • Working closely with key members of the project team and liaising with clients and suppliers
  • Keeping detailed records and writing reports
  • Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
  • Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
  • Creating labor estimates for any project
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
  • Managing bids from vendors and contractors
  • Using bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis
  • Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
  • Maintain quote database.
  • Maintain quote schedule.
  • Generate pricing worksheet and proposal letter.
  • Input and maintain quote/proposal data in Salesforce.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • AA in mathematics finance or equivalent required
  • Two years or more of experience in an estimator role required
  • Two years or more of experience with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects required
  • Two years or more of experience with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers required
  • High levels of organizational and time management skills required
  • High levels of analytical, observational, and active listening skills required
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal required
  • US work authorization without sponsorship required
  • Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check required
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 50lbs or more required
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for four plus hours at a time required
Additional Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as an Estimator preferred
  • Advanced training in MS Office Suite preferred
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
