As the Estimating Manager, you will oversee the estimating department, ensuring the preparation of accurate, competitive, and profitable bids for heavy civil construction projects. This role demands expertise in cost analysis, subcontractor negotiations, and industry best practices to strengthen our market position and drive sustained success.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects up to $4M
Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and quality standards.
Conduct site visits to assess project scope, constraints, and conditions.
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment.
Engage with customers to maintain strong connections and secure placement on key bid lists.
Evaluate risks, contingencies, and alternative solutions to meet project objectives.
Review and validate cost estimates from team members to align with company pricing standards and expectations.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure the best pricing and terms.
Analyze production rates earthwork, wet utilities, concrete, asphalt paving, seal coating and striping
Utilize industry-leading estimating software to improve workflow and bid precision.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in civil construction estimating.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methodologies.
Experience with estimating software, preferably B2W Estimate.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook).
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in negotiating pricing with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and work under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal construction regulations and standards.
