Local company is seeking a customer centric Escrow Officer-
This person will facilitate timely closings in compliance with laws and regulations, while cultivating and maintaining excellent customer relations. Assist Escrow Manager and Vice President in maintaining a positive, productive, and enjoyable work environment.
What will I be doing?
- Read, study and comply with underwriting memos and other materials available regarding changes in laws, regulations, underwriting procedures, CFPB, RESPA, TDI rules and regulations, and ALTA Best Practices. Have a clear understanding of all Rate and Procedural Rules contained in the Texas Title Insurance Basic Manual.
- Must be able to Interpret lender closing instructions and contracts to determine which rate/procedural rule and premium apply to each transaction
- Maintain timely education, licensing and renewal requirements per Texas Department of Insurance by completing CE courses as required by TDI as well as Fraud and Claims prevention classes
- Excellent working knowledge of matters regarding:
- Title - Liens, Judgements, Probate, Community and Homestead rights
- Property taxes - improved, unimproved, rollback, exemptions
- Assessments- HOA, MUD, PID, Utility Improvement, Public Utility District, Water Control District
- Closing - Contracts, legal documents, Power of attorney, FHA, VA, and Conventional requirements, balloon and ARM loans
- Proficient in ProForma, POA, Trust, LLC/Corp entities, and necessary documentation for each
- RON and Mobile Notary processes and documentation
- Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with sales staff, buyers, sellers, lenders, realtors, underwriters, vendors, as well as internal departments and staff
- Review surveys and updates for accuracy, encroachments and protrusions
- Accurately calculate recording fees
- Ensure all closing, underwriting and Schedule C requirements are met prior to closing
- Prepare Closing Disclosure or HUD-1 Settlement Statements in accordance with closings instructions, RESPA, CFPB, contract and company policies and procedures and CIF
- Perform closings in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Notarize legal documents in accordance with the State of Texas Secretary of State Notary Requirements
- Ensure all funding conditions and all funds are in the file prior to sending and accepting funds
- Timely reconcile all funds and disburse checks/wires in accordance with TDI, RESPA, CFPB, MEAPIC, underwriting and TPT Policies and Procedures
- Review Title Commitments for accuracy, vesting, liens, easements, etc. Determine if ProForma is necessary.
- Provide guidance to shippers and escrow assistants; assist and/or perform escrow assistant duties as necessary to ensure files are processed in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Ensure that all NPI policies and procedures are being followed by all staff.
- Timely report all consumer, lender, or Realtor complaints to Escrow Manager within 24 hours of receipt or conversation
- Various other duties, as assigned

Tools and experience needed to be successful:
- 5 years of Escrow Officer experience
- High School diploma required
- RamQuest experience a plus
- Professional appearance and friendly attitude
- Multi-tasked oriented with keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer literate. Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to handle a variety of customers professionally and cheerfully, even under pressure
- Strong problem solving skills
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion as a rule
- Ability to work confidently and professionally with Company managers and staff
