Job Title: Equipment Designer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: Permanent
Shift: 1st Shift (Mon - Fri)
Position Summary:
The Equipment Designer will design, troubleshoot, and enhance proprietary equipment for Direct Reduced Iron making plants and other technology initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Create mechanical drawings using CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD) for steel plant engineering.
- Develop detailed drawing packages from conceptual designs.
- Perform site visits for equipment analysis and layout planning.
- Inspect fabrication facilities for compliance with designs.
- Check mechanical drawings for accuracy.
- Assist engineers by proposing design improvements.
- Support documentation and technical manual development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience with 3D modeling, Vault, and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of mechanical system calculations.
- Familiarity with industrial plant environments.
- International travel experience.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in mechanical discipline or 5+ years of relevant experience.
Travel Requirements:
- 10%-30% domestic and international travel depending on project needs.
