We are looking for a motivated Equine Veterinarian in Cambridge, New Zealand
We are expanding our team and have a permanent full-time (40-hour minimum) position available for a motivated Equine Veterinarian starting from 1st August 2025. The opportunity is based out of the Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre in Cambridge; a full-service equine clinic located in the heart of the thoroughbred breeding, racing and general equestrian community in New Zealand. With our state-of-the-art facility and highly experienced team, we cater to all equine athletes and leisure horses. We are well equipped with digital imaging modalities, nuclear scintigraphy, video and dynamic endoscopy, modern theatre and hospital facilities.
You will work in conjunction with a team of sixteen equine veterinarians, interns and support staff. The position would suit an equine veterinarian with 4 years + experience. The role will be general ambulatory equine work but with an additional focus in either one or both of areas of veterinary care: reproduction and internal medicine. There is scope for someone with interest in medicine to expand the case load and assume responsibility for cases both in an ambulatory setting and in the hospital while continuing to expand their expertise in this area with directed learning and continuing education. Reproductive work is primarily Thoroughbred studs with some Sporthorse reproductive frozen semen and ET work done at the clinic. The rotation is 1 in 4 for after-hours care and one weeknight per week. Ongoing professional development is encouraged both internally within the clinic, and with formal continuing education. This is a great chance to expand your knowledge and skills in a collegial environment with a highly professional and skilled team.
We are committed to retaining and developing the interests of our veterinarians.
