We are recruiting a top caliber Environmental professional for an Environmental Permitting & Construction Compliance Specialist position, based on who meets the following criteria.
The Environmental Permitting & Construction Compliance Specialist leads efforts to ensure regulatory compliance, manage permitting processes, and oversee construction compliance for pipeline projects. This role involves collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop strategies, implement systems, and uphold environmental and regulatory standards throughout project lifecycles.
ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Process Development and Documentation Management:- Establish processes for organizing, storing, and retaining regulatory documents, including plans, procedures, and processes required by FERC, DOT, DOE, USCG, LDEQ, PHMSA and other agencies.
- Ensure systems support long-term accessibility, transparency, and audit readiness.
Permitting Strategy and Execution:- Develop comprehensive environmental permitting strategies, incorporating regulatory analysis, stakeholder engagement, and agency coordination.
- Prepare, review, and oversee submissions for air, water, land use, and other environmental permits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Risk Mitigation:- Partner with engineering, project management, and legal teams to assess environmental risks and integrate mitigation measures into project designs and plans.
- Align permitting and compliance activities with project goals and technical requirements.
Stakeholder and Regulatory Engagement:- Interface with regulatory authorities, agencies, and stakeholders to address inquiries, negotiate permit conditions, and represent the company's compliance initiatives.
- Foster productive relationships to streamline permitting and compliance processes.
Compliance Oversight for Construction Activities:- Develop and implement environmental compliance programs tailored to construction activities.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and reviews to ensure adherence to permit requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to integrate environmental compliance with safety protocols.
Documentation and Record Management:- Maintain comprehensive records related to environmental permits, compliance activities, and regulatory communications.
- Ensure all documentation meets transparency and auditability standards.
Vendor and Consultant Management:- Oversee environmental consultants, contractors, and vendors, ensuring their services meet project objectives and compliance requirements.
Skills & Experience- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Regulatory Affairs, Energy Management, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental permitting, compliance, or related roles
