The EHS Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and promoting environmental health and safety (EH&S) and loss control programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role supports compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce EH&S policies to maintain a safe, hazard-free workplace.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Conduct regular audits, respond to employee concerns, and implement corrective actions.
- Review and improve ergonomics, ventilation, noise levels, air quality, and chemical handling practices.
- Maintain and update Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Investigate accidents, ensure proper documentation per OSHA standards, and follow up on corrective measures.
- Coordinate and lead safety team meetings; ensure adequate training for team members.
- Plan and deliver required EH&S training (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
- Serve as the primary contact for insurance and government safety inspections; coordinate necessary responses and follow-ups.
- Support ISO 14000 and TS-16949 standards, including documentation and procedure maintenance.
- May administer first aid, coordinate vision testing, and assist with drug screening collection.
- Ensure emergency and fire protection systems are inspected and maintained in accordance with relevant guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in EH&S or a related field.
Experience:
- 2-5 years in a manufacturing or industrial safety-related role, with direct experience in EH&S.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Knowledge of ISO 14000 and TS-16949 standards.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; internal auditing experience is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR certified or willing to become certified.
