Responsible for driving the Mingo Junction Plant beyond compliance and reducing our carbon emissions in alignment with company initiatives and mission of making safe, sustainable steel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE & sustainability monitoring and reporting programs and systems, with a strong focus on environmental compliance.
- Oversight of air pollution control, water treatment, and related operations staff.
- Assist with the development and implementation of company decarbonization strategies.
- Assist with data collection for and management of product stewardship programs, including inputs to product life cycle analyses (LCAs) and environmental product declarations (EPDs).
- Complete the development and submission of accurate and timely permit applications, regulatory reports, and agency information requests.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies as required.
- Assist with Radiation Detection & Safety Program
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of ISO Management Systems, including standard operating procedures where applicable.
- Prepare and maintain required environmental contingency and emergency response plans.
- Perform regular environmental audits and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with JSWs permits and policies.
- Serve as the environmental emergency contact for incidents and participate as a member on the HSE Emergency Response Team.
- Conducts environmental training in small or large group settings.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify, develop, and implement effective corrective actions to HSE issues.
- Coordinate and manage consultants and contractors as required.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- B.S. in engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in U. S. heavy manufacturing industry (steel industry a plus) including managing Title V air permit programs.
- Experience with water treatment and air pollution control operations.
- Project and personnel management skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to be on call and respond to off-shift emergencies.
- Experience with EHS Data Management System Software is a plus.
