An Energy company in the oil & gas sector is seeking a Mid-Level Scientist/Engineer to lead environmental compliance efforts in the Midland area, focusing on regulatory affairs, compliance metrics, and field strategies. The role will support operations across the Delaware and Midland Basins and collaborate with corporate management in Houston. You will act as a "knowledge leader" on environmental compliance, liaising with clients, regulators, and local communities to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and best practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee environmental compliance for multiple operational sites.
  • Serve as a liaison between corporate management and field operations, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
  • Manage environmental compliance records, reporting, and auditing.
  • Coordinate third-party services related to environmental compliance (e.g., laboratory analysis, groundwater sampling).
  • Provide guidance on regulatory trends and enforcement actions.
  • Develop field compliance metrics, perform audits, and suggest process improvements.
  • Engage with regulatory inspectors and agencies as needed.
  • Assist in drafting internal policies and procedures related to environmental affairs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering field (advanced degree a plus).
  • 2-8 years of experience in environmental regulations, compliance, and public policy, with expertise in TRRC, TCEQ, and similar agencies.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to field facilities.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
