The Environmental Engineer is an ambassador for employee safety. They will ensure environmental compliance; identify and complete sustainability projects; and lead the plant's environmental improvement efforts. Working under the direction of the EHS Manager, this position ensures company methods and procedures for communicating environmental, health & safety matters to employees are effective, and employee concerns and suggestions receive prompt responses from leadership. The person in this role will play a critical role in achieving company Energy and Emissions Objectives (2030 Goals); assist with the development and implementation of the facility's environmental program; and manage assigned environmental and sustainability projects. The Environmental Engineer will manage the site's environmental permits; Title V, ISO 14001 program, and audits as necessary. In this role, primary work responsibilities will include: + Daily monitoring, collecting, and reporting to ensure environmental compliance. + Interacting with employees and collaborating across teams to communicate applicable policies & procedures related to Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives. + Support the EHS Manager through increasing knowledge & skills with Health & Safety to improve safety and environmental outcomes. + Assist with educating and developing training initiatives related to EHS and its impact. + Conducting root-cause analysis and finding corrective & preventive actions + BS degree in Engineering required. Preferred emphasis or major in chemistry, environmental, occupational health & safety or related technical degree. + At least 3 to 5 years' experience of environmental management processes. + Experience managing environmental licenses, permits and reporting (Air Quality Permit - Title V, Industrial Storm Water Permit, SPCC Plan and other environmental programs). + Experience managing ISO 14001 program. + General knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency regulations. + Experience with reporting necessary environmental information to regulatory agencies. + Experience with presenting or communicating to employees for training & collaboration. + Experience with performing inspections in an industrial environment. + Knowledge of, or ability to understand operational excellence principles and tools, such as 5S, SMED, Kaizen, Six Sigma green belt, and TPM. + CAD or AutoCAD skills and or working knowledge of process engineering software preferred. + Ability to diagnose and prioritize opportunities in areas of savings, throughput improvement, and yield improvement. + Computer systems proficiency in Microsoft applications (Office, Excel, Word, etc). + Effective verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, ability to organize and retrieve information, and to handle people tactfully and effectively in situations involving various educational and employment levels. + Demonstrated time-management, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma tools, or World Class Manufacturing, for business process improvement would be a plus.
