Full-time, entry-level IT Software Tester position available in Gainesville, FL

Join our team at Gleim Publications, Inc. We make online educational and test preparation software and are seeking individuals to manually test this software as an end-user and report on any problems or bugs found. We are also exploring innovative testing methods, including automated and shift left testing, to enhance the quality and efficiency of our products.

This is an entry-level position and is great for those wanting to break into the IT field without any previous IT experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Each day will be unique. Gleim has hundreds of online programs and internal software tools, and all of them need testing
  • Manually go through the various test prep online courses and other Gleim programs or websites as an end user to help find and report errors, defects, and inconsistencies
  • Explore and utilize automated testing tools, like Playwright, using TypeScript to develop scripts and test scenarios that enhance testing efficiency.
  • Participate in shift left testing by engaging early in the software development lifecycle to identify potential issues and ensure quality from the start.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams as an embedded QA to ensure quality is maintained throughout all stages of development.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure comprehensive coverage of software testing, aligning with both manual and automated testing strategies.
  • Create test cases and maintain documentation to track testing progress and results.
  • Compare what is being tested to the original end-user requirements and verify all are included correctly in the final product
  • Write reports on your findings after completing the software testing
  • Help reproduce problems reported by customers
  • Document how to reproduce bugs with detailed testing steps
  • Write and maintain end user or software testing documentation
  • Make suggestions to improve our courses and software for customers
Job Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Windows computers
  • Typing 50+ wpm
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities
  • Time management skills
  • Interest in and willingness to learn automated testing methodologies, with a focus on tools such as Playwright and scripting in TypeScript.
  • Ability to develop and follow detailed test plans and test cases to systematically identify and document software defects.
