We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Enterprise Storage Engineer to join our team in supporting the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC). In this critical role, you will apply your technical knowledge in storage engineering and system administration to enhance the performance, availability, and capacity of our enterprise storage infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include managing the lifecycle of storage devices across both on-premise and cloud environments, optimizing storage operations by collecting and analyzing metrics, and developing comprehensive documentation aligned with customer requirements. You will thrive in an Agile framework where your input is essential to the success of various initiatives.
The work location is in Bethesda at the Intelligence Community Campus.
Primary Responsibilities - Install, configure, and manage enterprise storage solutions from various vendors, including Dell EMC and Quantum.
- Administer Rubrik software, schedule backups, and generate status reports as needed.
- Manage Cisco Brocade fiber channel switch fabrics and monitor switch performance.
- Create and secure SMB file shares in collaboration with server administrators.
- Develop Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations plans.
- Support storage operations on Linux and Windows servers, including Rubrik and DSM servers.
- Create capacity management dashboards for improved visibility into storage usage and health.
- Troubleshoot backup job failures and configure Rubrik policies.
- Provision Storage Area Network (SAN) resources to VMware ESX clusters as needed.
- Manage volume snapshots and assist with point-in-time file restores.
- Schedule volume replication for disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor the health and availability of storage systems.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure swift resolution of hardware and software issues.
- Work with Change Management to coordinate maintenance and updates.
- Implement changes during designated maintenance windows.
- Monitor system performance and capacity trends for continuous improvement.
- Resolve tier 2 and tier 3 service requests efficiently.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities using system APIs.
- Contribute to operations improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate on cloud storage solutions as required.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while mentoring junior team members.
Basic Qualifications - Demonstrated experience managing Veritas Rubrik.
- Proficiency in scripting technologies such as PowerShell.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of Distributed File System (DFS).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor others.
- Ability to drive complex projects with minimal guidance.
- Experience in a 24/7/365 operational environment.
- Track record of contributing to project deliverables and performance metrics.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with senior management and clients.
- Must meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in Disaster Recovery and COOP storage strategies across data centers and in the Cloud.
- Knowledge of cloud migration processes to aid customer decision-making.
- Experience with managing Distributed File System (DFS) namespaces.
Education - Bachelor's degree with 12 years of related experience, Master's with 10 years, or equivalent experience with relevant certifications.
Security Clearance - United States Citizenship is required.
- Must possess a TS/SCI with Poly or a TS/SCI and willingness to obtain a polygraph.
Pay Range: Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
