SUMMARY

The IT Enterprise Architect is responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of enterprise-wide IT strategies and technical solutions. They ensure that the organization's IT infrastructure, applications, and processes reflect IT principles and align with business goals. The Enterprise Architect works closely with leadership, IT teams, and business stakeholders to develop and implement architectural standards, optimize system performance, and drive digital transformation initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Stakeholder Engagement: Meet the business requirements and ensure appropriate implementation within the existing infrastructure, support, and development frameworks.

o Assess business requirements in the short (12 months), medium (36 months), and long (60 months) terms, and align them with IT operations and future planning.

o Engage with the business to understand their primary concerns and suggest how the IT division can address their specific needs.

o Make significant contributions to the overall planning and scoping of IT objectives.

o Work with the IT division to serve as a representative to the business, explaining the implications of different technical approaches.

IT Strategic Roadmap: Organize and define the future direction of the IT division to modernize existing systems and prepare for future challenges.

o Monitor emerging technologies and communicate their potential impact to key stakeholders, within and beyond the IT division, in an understandable format.

o Develop and lead key initiatives regarding business and technical requirements, collaborating with leadership within and outside the IT division.

o Ensure the IT organization is positioned to adapt rapidly to changing business conditions.

o Provide recommendations and strategies concerning the disposition and maintenance cycles of existing systems.

o Recognize that contributions may require stepping outside one's specific area (development/infrastructure/process design) to deliver the best possible outcomes for the team and organization.

o Lead an assigned area in evaluating and developing the enterprise's long-term strategic/operating plan, ensuring alignment with EA objectives and long-term business goals.

o Assist the EA Lead in developing, maintaining, and executing the enterprise roadmap in support of IT's vision and strategy.

Accelerate Time-To-Market: Aid IT leadership in transforming the IT organization towards agile solution delivery.

o Implement frameworks to manage new IT technologies, reduce risk, and ensure future support.

o Identify and eliminate inefficiencies; introduce process improvements.

o Assist IT management in implementing best practices.

o Promote a scalable, supportable, and sustainable organizational and technical environment.

Project Support: Act as a Solution Architect throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

o Convert business requirements into technical solutions, integrating all platforms to deliver a comprehensive end-to-end solution.

o Engage in the evaluation and implementation of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software.

o Collaborate with resource managers, project managers, and IT teams to oversee and evaluate proposed changes and projects, ensuring they align with the IT roadmap.

EA Governance:

o Establish and enforce EA governance best practices.

o Offer architectural advice within the organization.

o Create prototypes and initial implementations.

o Mentor Junior IT architects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to advise on and implement enterprise architecture strategies, processes, and methodologies.

• Experience in leading evaluations and developing long-term strategic and operating plans to align EA objectives with business goals.

• Contributed to creating technology roadmaps supporting IT's vision and strategy.

• Ability to actively participate in the development of architecture blueprints for related systems.

• ERP deployment and development experience.

a. Experience with ERP in a wholesale/retail environment.

b. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or SAP S4/HANA.

• Experience in integrating multiple custom-developed disparate systems.

• Software development experience.

• Knowledge of Systems Infrastructure.

• Experience with a variety of diverse technologies and processing environments.

• Proficient understanding of strategic trends and new or emerging technologies, alongside their practical applications to evolving business and operating models.

• Knowledgeable in agile methodologies and processes, with the ability to support agile project teams by offering advice and guidance on opportunities, impacts, and risks, while considering technical and architectural debt.

• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Proven skill in coordinating cross-functional teams.

• Effective leadership and analytical abilities.

• Skilled in coaching and mentoring junior members.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Education

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis, a related study, or equivalent experience.

Experience

• Minimum of five years of experience as an IT Architect and eight plus years in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management, or operations.
