We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Technician IV to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training. JOB DETAILS LOCATION: Dahlgren, VA JOB STATUS: FT TRAVEL: 0% REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Eight (8) years of full-time professional experience as an Engineering Technician, performing the following skills: Welding (MIG, TIG, stick, and gas) or machine operation (lathes and mills), sheet metal fabrication, interpreting models and drawing packages, recommending, ordering, receiving, and processing materials and tooling for specific jobs, ability to program CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks, provide machine time and materials estimates. Extensive knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks Extensive CNC programming experience Well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Current Secret Clearance DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform welding (MIG, TIG, stick, and gas) or machine operation (lathes and mills), sheet metal fabrication, interpreting models and drawing packages, recommending, ordering, receiving, and processing materials and tooling for specific jobs Ability to program CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks, provide machine time and materials estimates. Mentor other employees in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks Mentor other employees in CNC Programming Manage drafting projects with minimal instruction, ensure drawings are to Mil Spec and ASME drafting standards Assist in review of drawings for completeness and accuracy Perform complex drafting and design calculations.
