Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for an Engineering Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Operations Engineering organization. This role will be located in San Diego, California. What You'll Get to do: Interpret detailed drawings for troubleshooting and failure diagnosis.
Assemble, and install mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic components or assemblies.
Set up and conduct prototype unit and subsystem tests under operational conditions.
Analyze test data, identify issues, and recommend modifications.
Support critical flight hardware integration with high attention to detail and safety.
Maintain clean room protocols, hazardous material handling, and operational procedures.
Work flexible schedules, including off shifts, weekends, overtime, and travel (up to 25% domestic travel).
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently. This role requires adaptability, precision, and a commitment to mission success.
Under minimal supervision, performs routine technical functions related to the support of test stations such as test, checkout, modification, and assembly of electronics and Electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment.
Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks.
Utilizes routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.
Normally assigned in area such as development, engineering, test equipment design, or the like.
Performs routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance to design specifications. Electronic skills (AC/DC/resistance measurements)
Mechanical equipment experience
Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Word and Excel)
Ability to work in a versatile environment, performing parallel tasks and duties
Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying information
Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Must have the ability to o btain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. US Citizen Preferred Qualifications: Aerospace Integration and Test experience Assembly and soldering experience
Electronics training equivalent to 4 years technical trade school/work history or 6 years military technical experience Able to demonstrate ability troubleshoot and repair support equipment Experience with voltage circuitry Experienced in Calibration and Preventative Maintenance of Electronic Equipment Ability to generate and support disposition of discrepancy documentation Ability to adhere to IPC, J-STD, and AS9100 processes, procedures and protocols Good Mechanical aptitude for cross functional assignments Good written and verbal communication skills DoD Secret Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs Experience with critical/hazardous operations a plus. Salary Range: $76,800.00 - $128,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
