Joby Overview Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. We're looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025. Overview Engineering Operations Manager will be responsible for much of the day to day communications and coordination between Joby and Avionyx, as well as managing and coordinating contractual and certification-related information flow between Joby and designated Key Supplier Accounts. This position will report functionally to the Avionyx General Manager but is expected to have a dotted line relationship to the Joby Head of Software or their designee for the purposes of ensuring close coordination of software activities at Joby S4 suppliers inclusive of Avionyx. The most important traits for this position include overall attitude and work ethic, ability to self-manage, be well-organized, and a clear communicator. Responsibilities It is expected that the person in this role will: Lead and drive the involvement and inputs from multidisciplinary stakeholders to find solutions to roadblocks, risks, and challenges impeding supplier progress. Coordinate with Joby Legal and Finance on review of Key Supplier third-party contracts to facilitate their timely review and approval. Support Key Supplier Business Development as needed on coordination with Joby Marketing and Communications team on Avionyx marketing efforts. Coordinate and facilitate the timely communication of performance metrics from Avionyx and any assigned suppliers as requested by the GM, Avionyx President, and/or the Head of Software. Coordinate with Joby Software Engineering on ensuring clear lines of communication and coordination are maintained for Avionyx software work being performed for the Joby S4 program. Facilitate Joby support to Avionyx proposal efforts (e.g., help in identifying subject matter experts, coordinating written proposal inputs, coordinating with Joby program management staff to deconflict resources). Facilitate Avionyx technical talent outreach by coordinating Joby engineering support for job fairs, engineering weeks, and similar opportunities. Perform Key Supplier management oversight in accordance with approved Sub-tier Supplier Management Plans (SSMPs). Serve as a member of the Avionyx Senior Management Team and take point on coordinating, documenting, and ensuring follow-up for the quarterly management meeting actions. Stay closely connected to the Avionyx team for the purposes of helping ensure the overall health of the organization Work on other projects as requested by the Avionyx General Manager. Required The following skills and attributes are required for this position: Ability to manage a broad portfolio of projects, each having their own distinct sequence and time flow. Prior experience working across project teams to coordinate activities with internal stakeholders and external counterparts to address diverse, complex issues, which often cross multiple disciplines, projects/programs or functional/technical areas and have impact on the accomplishment of milestones and overall goals with limited oversight. Solid understanding of issues likely to become blockers in contract flows and ability to elevate in a timely manner to avoid overall program disruption. Outstanding organizational skills to manage ongoing programs, develop detailed plans, tasks, milestone dates and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of events and tracking of processes throughout the life cycle of the programs/projects as well as ensuring minutes of critical exchanges are captured, and escalating as needed to ensure action closure. Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining close working relationships across diverse and dispersed teams. Demonstratable working knowledge of aerospace development, especially as it relates to software development and airborne electronic hardware (AEH) development including demonstrable participation in driving certification efforts (i.e.: DO-178, DO-254, Arp4754) to completion. Strong problem solving, communication, coordination, and technical writing skills. Bachelor's in Engineering or related technical fields and 10+ years of aviation or defense industry experience. Strong computer skills with both Microsoft and Google toolsets. Desired The following skills and attributes are highly desired for this position: 15+ years of experience working across a wide variety of aircraft systems and equipment. Direct experience working developments requiring DO-178C and DO-254 compliance. Master's degree in engineering or related technical fields Direct experience working internationally.
