The Engineering Manager - Solar & Energy Storage will lead a dynamic and growing team of engineers and technical specialists responsible for enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and integration of solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role will provide strategic and operational leadership for the engineering and project support functions across a fleet of renewable generation assets, focusing on technical excellence, reliability engineering, root cause analysis, and the successful turnover and operation of new sites.

This position plays a critical role in managing more than $1.5 billion in renewable energy assets, ensuring engineering services align with business goals, safety standards, and operational expectations. As the department rapidly expands-projected to grow to 100 staff members within two years-the ideal candidate will be a seasoned electrical engineering leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments and has a passion for mentoring and developing others.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead a consolidated team of engineers and specialists supporting solar and energy storage systems with focus on reliability, design, integration, and project management.
Oversee technical integration of new solar and battery storage sites including engineering review, QA/QC during construction, CMMS setup, NERC compliance, O&M documentation, and training.
Direct and prioritize engineering support for reliability initiatives, ensuring data-driven analysis, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement of system performance.
Manage capital and O&M projects that upgrade or enhance systems to meet department goals for safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
Support the configuration and use of forecasting and modeling tools (eg, PVsyst) to ensure performance expectations and operational readiness.
Serve as the technical authority on reliability engineering, power plant instrumentation and controls, and medium-voltage electrical systems (13kV+).
Maintain safety as a core value by fostering a culture of accountability, risk awareness, and compliance.
Develop, coach, and retain a team of engineers ranging from co-op level to principal engineers; actively participate in succession planning and organizational development.
Serve as an interface with consulting engineers, OEMs, and other stakeholders during construction and post-commissioning phases.
Contribute to the creation and control of department budgets, including development of long-term capital plans.
Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, design standards, laws, and utility regulations.
Perform field walkdowns, construction oversight, and respond to station needs with 24/7 availability as required.

Education & Certifications:

Required:
Bachelor&s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

Preferred:
Electrical Engineering degree.
Graduate-level technical degree or MBA.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida.

Experience:

Required:
5+ years of engineering experience in power generation or heavy industrial settings (project engineering, maintenance, outage or project management).
5+ years of supervisory experience managing professional or technical teams.

Preferred:
7+ years in progressive engineering roles within renewable generation or utility environments.
Demonstrated experience in solar and/or battery energy storage systems.
Experience with Microsoft Projects and CMMS systems.
Background in reliability engineering, RCA, instrumentation and controls, or medium-voltage electrical systems.
Familiarity with consulting firms, utilities, or electrical manufacturing environments.

Working Conditions:
Regular site visits to solar and BESS facilities across multiple counties.
Office-based role with extensive field interaction-5 days/week onsite at SEC.
Company vehicle provided for travel to sites.
Requires work in dusty, hot, and noisy environments.
Must be able to ascend ladders and work on elevated platforms.
24/7 availability for critical plant needs and storm-related response.
