Our client needs an Engineering Consultant to support facilities capital projects. This consultant will collaborate with the project team in the investigation, design, construction, commissioning, and document turnover throughout the project life cycle. The role requires strong technical knowledge of laboratory HVAC, electrical power distribution, plumbing systems, as well as familiarity with local building codes.
This is an onsite role (5 days/week) in the Boston area for a 6-month assignment, with a strong likelihood of extension.
Responsibilities:
- Design Engineering
- Review MEP design criteria and specification; make necessary changes/recommendations as needed.
- Construction
- Track design and construction changes
- Review RFI, Bulletins
- Commissioning
- Manage the project commission process
- Resolve deficiencies
- Engineering Turnover Packages (ETOP)
- Collect the required ETOP for the project
- Review ETOP for accuracy and discrepancies
- Facilitate master drawing updates with documentation
Requirements:
- BS degree in Engineering with minimum of 5 years of project engineering, facilities engineering, and/or project management experience
- Strong understanding of how MEP systems are installed and function
- Understand the function and control logic of the laboratory-related MEP, such as the fume hood, Building Systems Commissioning (BSC), terminal box, and venturi valves.
- Experience using Metasys (building automation system) and Analytika (building monitoring tool) to analyze and diagnose MEP systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a cohesive plan with objective progress reporting, including metrics.
- Must be effective at MEP operational activities and lab/office design & construction activities.
- Ability to work independently and take on project management activities.
- Demonstrates functional/technical proficiency and engages in effective operational and strategic planning
- Exhibit strong knowledge of building management, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Receptive to change - Adapts (quickly) to changing circumstances
- Motivated to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
