Engineer IV

Ampirical Services, Inc. is an electrical transmission and distribution engineering company that provides comprehensive customer support, from project conception to design engineering, project management, and construction. Description: Serve as a member of the San Ramon, CA Substation group, responsible for the design, and procurement of electrical equipment/materials for substation facilities in accordance with applicable industry codes, standards, and customer requirements. The Engineer IV will work closely with other departments and clients to ensure quality, meeting clients standards and expectations and provide field support to the client during construction activities as required. This Engineer IV will have the following duties: Prepare scopes of work, performs scoping walkdowns and estimates for evaluating and designing substations. Interface with other company functions, clients and vendors. Identify proper protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations. Create drawing packages and conducts QA/QC for substation relay protection that include wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, one-line, and three-line diagrams. Perform load calculations for load panels, battery systems, voltage drop, and other various substation components. Perform substation field support and field pre-inspection for turn-key substation projects consisting of protection panels, circuit switchers, circuit breakers, transformers, control house, and supporting equipment. Mentor new Engineers and prepare Training Videos on the clients standards for designs and processes. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering field. In addition, 5 years of engineering experience involving industry standards, equipment ratings and requirements. The stated experience must include 5 years: (1) Using design and analysis software and tools such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation and/or Bentley Substation; (2) Interfacing with clients and vendors. Must be willing to travel 15% of the year within the state of California. Eligible to telecommute 2 days a week from a home office within a reasonable commuting distance from the San, Ramon, CA office. Will accept a MS degree in electrical engineering or closely related engineering field and 2 years of stated experience in lieu of a BS and 5 years of experience. Must have FE Certification.
